Suddenly Remote? Education Edition

Friday March 20th, 10:30AM PT // 6:30PM CET
1 hour approx.

Over the past week, over 100 universities (and countless more K-12 schools) have been forced to pivot from in-person instruction to distance learning. Glenn Fajardo, Consultant and instructor at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, Stanford University, has been at the forefront of remote education innovation. He’ll share with us some of his best practices and favorite online tools in delivering intentional design-based learning experiences for suddenly remote classes.

In the spirit of “show, don’t tell”, Glenn will:

  • demo an accelerated mini-classroom experience to give others a sense of what it looks & feels like in practice
  • share a few guiding principles that he's used in his class 'Design Across Borders' and with other collaborators
  • offer attendees a few concrete starting points to build from on your own

Can’t join in real time? Not to worry - register anyway! We will record and share following the session. Everyone who registers will also receive the mural template we use during the session. 🎯

Glenn Fajardo connects to create. At the Stanford, Glenn co-leads the immersive course Design Across Borders, bringing students across the world together to explore design thinking, virtual collaboration, and cross-cultural interplay. Glenn also consults with clients internationally.

Ward Bullard leads MURAL for Education efforts. Ward is an instructor at the Stanford, leading the course, Testing at Scale, which focuses on helping students develop testing frameworks and skills. A committed volunteer, he serves on the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation Executive Board, Hillview Middle School PTO Executive Board and as an Oak Knoll Elementary School PTO Committee Chair.
